September 12, 2020 – Ride Like an Animal Motorcycle Fundraiser – Cancelled.   It is with regret that we are cancelling our 2020 Ride Like an Animal event due to concerns about the coronavirus and the safety of our riders, volunteers, and staff.  This is our second major fundraiser that we have needed to cancel due to the pandemic.  Your support is more important now than ever before!

March 28, 2020 – Annual Fundraising Dinner – Cancelled.   We care about you and we know that you care about us; therefore, the Union County Humane Society has canceled its Annual Spring Fundraising Dinner event, scheduled for March 28, 2020.  Our decision is out of concern to avoid the possible spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), especially among our many senior supporters.  You may still support us by using the Donate button on this website and never leave your home.  Without the support of our community we would not be able to care for all the animals that come to us every day.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the love and support that you give to us.  May God Bless and keep everyone healthy!

March 11, 2020 – Spring Cat Spay Event.  A great event to help control the unwanted kittens.   Dr. Hutchison spayed 29 female cats.  Thank you!

October 6-7, 2017 – Yard Sale – WOW!  This really was the largest yard sale that Union County has ever seen.  Thank you to our donors and shoppers.  And THANK YOU to Janet Holloway for opening your parking lot (and heart) to support animal welfare in Union County.  We raised over $5,000 for the shelter in a two day blow out.  This will be an annual event, so mark your calendars for 2018 – the first weekend in October.

September 9, 2017 – Ride Like an Animal.  The weather was beautiful for our 11th Annual Ride Like an Animal motorcycle ride.  Thank you to our sponsors, riders, and donors of door prizes and auction items.

2016 Events

November 28, 2016 – They’re Cuter When You Neuter – We held a “Boys Only” low-cost neuter clinic and provided services to 36 tom cats.  Thanks to all responsible pet owners who are doing their part to control our cat population.

November 18, 2016 – Wine 4 Whiskers – THANK YOU to the Winery at Seven Springs Farm for hosting our Wine 4 Whiskers Fundraising Event and to our sponsors; Teresa’s Bakery, Halls Ingles, Sam’s Knoxville Center, Maynardville Fred’s, Maynardville Food City, and Party City! Without the support of the community and our wonderful volunteers, we could not help the number of animals that we do. It was a chili-kind of night, and we had a good turn out with great food, music, friends and wine.

October 1, 2016 – Ride Like an Animal.  We held our 10th Annual Ride Like an Animal motorcycle ride on October 1.  What a beautiful day!  Nearly 60 motorcycles, escorted by Union County Sheriff with a support vehicle bringing up the back.  The ride went through Union, Claiborne, and Grainger counties, finishing with a great barbeque at Li’l Jo’s in Maynardville with music provided by the Jeanette Weeks Band.  Lots of great door prizes and auction items.

It is so heartwarming to see everyone gather for the benefit of all the four-legged furry animals that do not have a voice and need our help! Events like this help us care for and adopt out many dogs and cats, as well as provide low-cost spay/neuter and vaccinations for the pets in our community.     THANK YOU!

We cannot mention every rider or volunteer by name but we do want to recognize our generous sponsors: Annie, Stoney, Techie, Muppy & BH Ashley, Burning Art by Zophia-Farrier/Blacksmith/Welder, Durbin Drywall, Dennis Hall Automotive, d’Vine Inspirations, Fountain City Funding, Jeanette Weeks Band, Lil Jo’s BBQ, Knoxville Harley Davidson Clinton Hwy, Ohio Valley Veneer, Ralph & Sue Shick, Rowland Veterinary Services, Advantage Electronics, Aimee Alden & Jemma Daisy, Clinton Highway Wrecker Service, Crossroads Firearms, James, Janet & Jacob, Kathy Pack, Melissa Friend & Savannah Ann, Lisa Foutz & Lacie, Mayor Mike Williams, Roberts Garage, Union County Chiropractic Clinic-Dr. Darrell Johnson, D.C., The Winery at Seven Springs Farm, and Wallace Auto.
